Stablecoin Supply Sees $1.7 Billion Increase in August

Instruments
BTC USDT USDC
Share

The combined circulating supply of USDT and USDC increased by $1.7 billion in August, reversing three consecutive months of contraction. The data compiled by WuBlockchain shows that after declining by roughly $2.6 billion in May, $6 billion in June, and $2.2 billion in July, the August increase is a welcome change for stablecoin holders.

However, it's worth noting that this growth remains below levels recorded during earlier periods of stronger stablecoin expansion. In 2021 and late 2024, monthly increases exceeded $18 billion, while frequent increases between $8 billion and $12 billion were seen during the 2025 bull market.

The recovery of Bitcoin from around $60,000 to nearly $80,000 has been notable, but USDT and USDC supply growth has remained limited in comparison. WuBlockchain's analysis identifies monthly stablecoin supply growth above $10 billion as a key historical threshold for stronger liquidity expansion.
