Stablecoin Users Surpass 300 Million as Major Companies Invest in Infrastructure
The number of users for stablecoins has reached an astonishing 300 million in the past year. This figure, according to Patrick Kim of analytics firm Artemis, represents a significant milestone for dollar-pegged tokens. While retail crypto trading has slowed down, stablecoin adoption continues to grow.
The firms handling these transactions are increasingly payment companies and consumer apps rather than traditional crypto exchanges. Sami Start, co-founder of Transak, noted that the total addressable market is larger on the stablecoin side compared to the crypto side. Raj Kamal, who runs TransFi, added that stablecoins have only just begun to scratch the surface of their potential.
Regulatory clarity has played a significant role in this growth. The Genius Act signed by Trump and Europe's MiCA regulations provide clear guidelines for managing stablecoins. This has led major companies like Stripe, Mastercard, and Visa to invest heavily in stablecoin infrastructure.
A wave of apps is now working to integrate stablecoins into everyday life. Rizon, one such app, allows users to top up money, get account details, and send funds without holding licenses itself. Instead, it partners with licensed entities like Rain.
