Stablecoins Disrupt Traditional Finance as Bitcoin Investment Strategy Shifts
Investors are increasingly treating Bitcoin as a savings mechanism rather than just a trade. Economists and market strategists argue that its value scales exponentially with its number of users, making it a collective pension plan for ordinary holders.
The discipline required to invest in Bitcoin is mechanical rather than tactical: buy on a schedule, invest more during major dips, and stick to a regular investment plan at other times. This approach is not new to Indian investors, who have already adopted a similar mindset with mutual fund SIPs.
However, treating Bitcoin as the whole story misses where the next leg of value creation is forming. One trend that stands out is the growing importance of stablecoins in traditional finance. Visa has expanded its USDC settlement capabilities, and Mastercard announced plans to settle card transactions in USDC and other regulated stablecoins.
Stablecoins are shifting from trading desk plumbing into genuine payment infrastructure for cross-border settlement, payroll, and treasury cash management. This is evident with the GENIUS Act now law in the United States and MiCA fully active in Europe.
