The Humanitarian Payments Council (HPC) highlighted progress in stablecoin adoption for efficient and transparent aid delivery at their annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Stablecoins, such as USDC and USDT, offer advantages like faster cross-border settlements and reduced foreign exchange volatility.

Recent pilots, including the German government's use of USDC in Syria this June, demonstrate their utility in high-inflation or weak banking environments. However, operational challenges persist, with limited reliable on- and off-ramp infrastructure in many regions.

The Council emphasized the importance of messaging, stating that 'Treasury teams and policymakers aren't interested in blockchain jargon; they care about outcomes.' Participants called for greater collaboration among NGOs, donors, and financial institutions to scale existing solutions and document outcomes.
