Stablecoins Go Mainstream as Crypto Card Payments Surpass $750 Million
The stablecoin market is gaining traction as more people turn to cryptocurrency payment cards. According to an analysis by a16z, monthly purchases made through crypto cards have reached over $750 million.
This represents a significant shift in how users interact with stablecoins. In the past, users would often sell their stablecoins on an exchange before taking out cash to deposit into a bank account.
Now, however, users can spend stablecoins directly through crypto cards, which automatically convert them into the local currency of the merchant. This makes it easier for businesses to accept standard fiat payments without having to deal with cryptocurrency directly.
The rising demand for crypto cards is also expanding access to US dollar accounts globally and providing a convenient way for stablecoin holders to transact.
