Stablecoins Move Beyond Trading as Marketplaces Emerge as Key Use Case
Stablecoins have been relegated to niche tools for exchanges and settlement in the past, but that's changing fast. According to Marc Boiron, CEO at Polygon Labs, stablecoins are starting to move from the back office into real payment experiences.
This shift is not happening because stablecoins became trendy, but because the infrastructure around them is improving and regulations are becoming clearer. The passing of the Genius Act removed some uncertainty around stablecoins and allowed more practical use cases to emerge.
Stablecoins make sense in situations where the existing payment system is slow, expensive, or inconvenient. They won't win by replacing everything, but by being the best option in places where the current system breaks down.
