StablecoinX Stock Rallies on Hopes for Regulatory Clarity
Nasdaq-listed StablecoinX, ticker USDE, has seen its stock nearly quintuple in just over a month, with prices rising from $1.52 on July 27 to $5.37 on Friday. This surge is largely attributed to hopes for stablecoin regulations, which would provide a clearer framework for the industry and increase investor confidence.
The company's stock began trading on Nasdaq on June 26 after StablecoinX completed its business combination with TLGY Acquisition Corp. The company claims to be an infrastructure business built around Ethena, providing infrastructure services, middleware software, and distribution services within the Ethena ecosystem.
StablecoinX recently launched the first phase of its Harness platform, which enables organizations to accept major stablecoins, hold sUSDe for rewards, or send funds to a receiver's chosen destination. However, the company has reported only $62,372 in revenue for the quarter and $63,038 for the first half of 2023, along with a net loss of $34.2 million.
The proposed Regulation Crypto Assets by the SEC includes a startup exemption for offerings up to $5 million over four years and a fundraising exemption for offerings up to $75 million in a 12-month period. This regulatory momentum is driving the rally, but Congress still needs to pass the CLARITY Act for stablecoin rules to be settled.
