Stacks Activates PoX-5 Hardfork, Paving Way for Bitcoin Staking
Stacks has successfully activated its PoX-5 hardfork at Bitcoin block 960,230, laying the foundation for Bitcoin Staking. This milestone marks the first step in anchoring Bitcoin capital to Stacks and enables users to earn self-custodial BTC yield through Bitcoin Bonds while preserving existing rewards for STX-only stakers.
According to Muneeb Ali, Founder of Stacks, 'PoX-5 is an important first move as we share more details on the broader vision behind the Satoshi Upgrades later in August.'
The activation of PoX-5 comes after signers, node operators, and major exchange partners completed their migrations ahead of the upgrade. The network is now operating under the new PoX-5 consensus rules, with ecosystem contributors continuing their planned rollout.
