Stacks Plummets to 6-Year Low as Market Fears PoX-5 Upgrade
The Stacks (STX) token has plummeted to $0.13, its lowest price since mid-2020, due to market concerns over a change in tag on Binance.
The drop was fueled by the upcoming PoX-5 hardfork, which is scheduled for July 29th and aims to bring trustless, self-custodial Bitcoin staking to the network.
However, despite the testnet being live since three days ago, on-chain activity has continued to decline, with daily active users dropping to 1.1k, a low not seen since January 2026.
The team behind Stacks acknowledged the issue and assured the community that it was working to resolve the matter, but the market did not respond positively, leading to further weakness in STX's price.
