Stacks Surges on Live Infrastructure for Native Bitcoin Yield
The price of Stacks (STX) has surged by 5.5 percentage points over the past 30 hours, driven by a combination of fundamental and market-driven catalysts.
The key factor is the transition from a 'future promise' to live infrastructure for native Bitcoin yield. The PoX-5 upgrade is now live, with approximately 88% of STX participating in 'dual stacking' and restaking. This enables BTC holders to pair their BTC with STX to earn BTC yield while keeping BTC on L1.
The Genesis Bond pilot is scheduled to start around Bitcoin block 966,350 in September, allowing participants to lock BTC plus STX worth roughly 5% of the BTC position for about six months. HashKey Cloud, BitGo, and Fordefi have announced support for sBTC and related custody flows.
The Genesis Bond structure requires STX to be locked alongside BTC to access BTC yield, reducing tradable STX float and tying STX value more directly to Bitcoin-denominated income streams.
