Stake Exits Ireland Amid GRAI Scrutiny
Crypto casino giant Stake has stopped serving customers in Ireland after coming under scrutiny from the country's newly established gambling regulator.
The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) contacted Stake, leading to Irish users being blocked during the week of Sept. 7.
This marks one of the GRAI's most significant actions against an international gambling operator since Ireland's new licensing system took effect on July 1.
Ireland introduced a phased system for remote-betting licenses, covering online and telephone sportsbooks, as well as intermediaries that facilitate bets between customers.
