Standard Chartered-Backed Anchorpoint Unveils Regulated Hong Kong Dollar Stablecoin
Anchorpoint Financial, backed by Standard Chartered, has launched a regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoin called HKD At Par (HKDAP). The token is initially available to institutional distributors and professional investors for payments, settlement, and tokenized financial markets. HKDAP is pegged one-to-one with the Hong Kong dollar and operates on public blockchain infrastructure.
The beta phase allows eligible users to access the token through authorized distributors rather than directly from Anchorpoint. The company plans to broaden access to retail users as early as the end of 2026, depending on market conditions. HKDAP is designed for digital money rather than an investment product and does not pay interest.
Anchorpoint CEO Dominic Maffei stated that the focus is on commercial applications that can demonstrate the usefulness of regulated tokenized money, particularly in payments and settlement. The company uses a business-to-business-to-consumer model with authorized distributors providing access through their existing platforms and customer relationships.
