Standard Chartered Brings HKDAP into Institutional Treasury Workflows
Standard Chartered has become the first bank to distribute HKDAP, bringing Hong Kong's regulated stablecoin directly into institutional treasury, tokenized fund settlement, and cross-border payment workflows.
The bank's appointment as an authorized distributor of HKDAP follows the stablecoin's beta access launch on August 12. While crypto-native exchanges HashKey and OSL were the first to distribute the token, Standard Chartered gives HKDAP its first direct channel into mainstream commercial banking.
Standard Chartered now controls HKDAP's core stack, with the bank serving as a majority equity holder in Anchorpoint Financial, the issuer of HKDAP. The appointment deepens Standard Chartered's structural dominance over HKDAP and allows for full-stack support, including issuance, reserves, and distribution.
Standard Chartered plans to use HKDAP for tokenized fund settlement and treasury pilots in Q4, with a focus on institutional access through eligible clients. The bank aims to eliminate external friction when converting fiat into HKDAP, while also concentrating early operational risk within a single banking group.
