Standard Chartered Brings Institutional Spot Trading to UAE for BTC and ETH
Standard Chartered has made significant strides in the cryptocurrency market by introducing institutional spot trading for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) to eligible institutions in the UAE. This move marks a major milestone as Standard Chartered becomes the first Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB) to offer this service in the UAE.
The new service will be available on the bank's infrastructure, allowing institutional clients to access the spot markets for BTC and ETH trading. Trades are deliverable, and eligible customers can choose to receive the underlying crypto assets or synthetic exposure through derivatives. Clients also have the option to settle their trades using external custodians or Standard Chartered's digital asset custody solution.
This development is part of Standard Chartered's broader digital asset strategy, which includes digital asset custody, trading, and tokenization. The bank has strengthened its crypto offering by expanding its services in the UAE, attracting institutional investors who value regulated infrastructure and existing banking relationships.
