Standard Chartered's Chainlink Forecast Sparks Whale Transaction Surge
Standard Chartered's forecast of Chainlink (LINK) reaching $200 by 2030 has triggered a surge in whale transactions, with 246 trades above $100,000 in 24 hours, the highest daily count in five months. According to Santiment, this increase in activity is accompanied by growth in the balance held by wallets controlling between 100,000 and 10 million LINK.
The cohort now holds 466.31 million coins, accounting for 46.57% of the circulating supply. This expansion aligns with Chainlink's increasing adoption across various sectors, including cross-chain lanes and institutional data.
However, despite this bullish sentiment, the demand picture looks weaker, with spot LINK exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracting only $150,307 last week and posting zero inflows in two of the prior three weeks. Price context also adds a caveat, as LINK remains down over 28% year-to-date.
On-chain flows are not uniformly bullish either, with CryptoQuant data showing that exchange reserves fell from 142.8 million in late June to roughly 122.3 million LINK in early August, but have since climbed back to 123.7 million.
