STARCARES Renovates Basketball Court in Philippines, Empowering 20,000 Community Members
The community impact initiative of STARTRADER, STARCARES, has completed a major renovation of a basketball court at Communal Elementary School in Buhangin, Davao City, Philippines. The newly revamped facility serves nearly 20,000 people, including students, staff, parents, and residents.
The project was designed to provide a safe and proper space for students to learn and play, as well as a gathering place for the wider community. According to Nelson Sepe Lubguban Jr., Principal of Communal Elementary School, 'Before, we held graduations, school activities and community gatherings on a cracked, uneven court. Today, our students have a safe and proper space to learn, play and celebrate, while the wider community has a place that can bring people together.'
STARCARES' goal is to create lasting everyday value through practical infrastructure projects, as stated by Peter Karsten, Chief Executive Officer of STARTRADER. The Davao project follows similar initiatives in Vietnam, Thailand, and Nigeria.
