StarkWare's Quantum-Safe Bitcoin (QSB) method has successfully completed its first transaction on the mainnet, marking an important milestone in the quest for quantum-proof security. On August 26, a QSB transaction was confirmed in block 964,199, using a hash-based security construction designed to reduce reliance on elliptic-curve cryptography vulnerable to quantum attacks.

The transaction spent 10,000 satoshis and used a 5,179-satoshi fee. It did not follow Bitcoin Core's standard rules, so it was received directly by MARA Pool through its Slipstream service and included in the block.

According to StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson, 'Avihu took this on after hours, as a passion project, and has now shown that Bitcoin has no expiration date.'
