State Dept Launches Freedom Tech Program with Bitcoin and Blockchain Focus
The U.S. State Department is launching the Freedom Tech Excellence Program, a new initiative that incorporates Bitcoin and blockchain technology to advance digital freedom worldwide.
The program will be developed in partnership with the Bitcoin Policy Institute, Palantir Technologies, Anduril Industries, and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
The Freedom Tech Excellence Program aims to address various digital freedom issues, including online surveillance, encryption, AI governance, and protecting free expression online.
The program will focus on five priority areas: First Amendment protections in the digital age, countering unlawful digital surveillance and online scams, privacy-enhancing technologies such as strong encryption and VPNs, responsible governance of emerging technologies including AI, and safeguarding children and other users online.
