States Challenge Trump Tariffs as Crypto Investors Watch Trade Tensions Unfold
A coalition of 25 Democratic-led states has launched a lawsuit against the Trump administration's latest tariff policy. The lawsuit argues that the administration exceeded its legal authority by introducing new double-digit tariffs on 60 trading partners.
The case, filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade, comes after earlier tariff measures were struck down by the Supreme Court. The states claim that the administration relied on allegations of forced-labor imports to justify restoring duties that courts had already found unlawful.
New York Attorney General Letitia James said the administration was attempting to impose another round of unlawful taxes on businesses and consumers. The White House rejected the claims, arguing that the tariffs are a lawful response to unfair trade practices.
