Steak n' Shake Touts Double-Digit Sales Growth Since Bitcoin Adoption
Steak 'n Shake, a burger restaurant franchise based in Indianapolis, Indiana, has credited its adoption of Bitcoin for double-digit same-store sales growth. Since May 2025, when it began accepting the largest cryptocurrency, the company has seen remarkable increases in revenue.
The firm used the Lightning Network to facilitate Bitcoin payments, which has saved Steak 'n Shake roughly 50% on processing fees compared to traditional credit card processors. These charges typically range between 2.5% and 3.5% per transaction.
According to Michael Boes, Chief MAHA Officer at Steak 'n Shake, Bitcoin's adoption has become a core driver of the chain's business performance. At the Bitcoin 2026 Conference, he highlighted that same-store sales rose 11% quarter over quarter in Q2 2025 and accelerated to 15% in Q3 2025.
The company has also considered adding other cryptocurrencies but decided against it after a poll on X revealed that people believed only Bitcoin was needed. In January, Steak 'n Shake added $10 million in Bitcoin to its strategic reserve.
