Steak 'n Shake, a burger chain founded in 1934, has made headlines recently for its Bitcoin strategy. The company declared itself a Bitcoin company over a year after it began accepting Bitcoin payments at its restaurants.

In a statement on social media platform X, Steak 'n Shake said that since starting to accept Bitcoin, it has seen the best same-store sales in the fast food industry.

The data behind the claim comes from SEC filing Biglari Holdings Inc, which owns the chain. According to the filing, Steak 'n Shake reported a 13.8% same-store sales increase for domestic company-operated and franchise-partner-operated restaurants in the second quarter of 2026.

This growth is attributed to strong consumer demand and solid execution in the restaurant segment, contributing to higher pre-tax operating earnings of $6.3 million for the quarter, up from $3.7 million a year earlier.
