Stellar Surpasses Ethereum in Non-US Government Debt Tokenization
Stellar has surpassed Ethereum in the value of non-US government debt tokenized on-chain, reaching over $520 million. This significant milestone is a result of the growing adoption of Stellar's infrastructure for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization.
The platforms Etherfuse and Spiko have been instrumental in issuing 'Stablebonds', tokenized funds backed by short-term government debt from multiple countries, natively on Stellar. Mexican CETES, Brazilian Tesouro bonds, European government paper, and South Korean Treasury Bonds (KTBs) are among the instruments that have found a home on Stellar.
The network's low fees, fast finality, and payments-first design make it an attractive choice for issuers looking to tokenize cross-border sovereign instruments. Even smaller sovereign experiments, such as the Marshall Islands' digital sovereign bond used to fund on-chain universal basic income payments, have landed on Stellar.
