Step App Announces Shutdown of All Services by August 21
Step App announced on August 5 that it will shut down all services globally by August 21, marking the end of its four-year operation. The move-to-earn project has instructed users to unstake locked tokens and manage exchange positions before access ends.
The application recorded over one million downloads and tracked billions of steps during its operations, according to the company's statement. However, the team did not provide a financial, technical, or regulatory reason for the closure.
Step App combined fitness tracking with blockchain rewards, allowing users to earn the KCAL in-game token through activity and use FITFI for governance, network fees, staking, and marketplace functions. The project operated across Step Network and Avalanche, with separate FITFI contract addresses listed on its website.
