Sterling Digital Validates Gas-to-Power-to-Bitcoin Model in West Texas Commissioning Run
Sterling Digital plc (AQSE: ASIC), a vertically integrated Bitcoin miner utilizing stranded natural gas resources in West Texas, has announced its first verified Bitcoin mining output at its West Texas facility. This milestone marks the successful validation of Sterling Digital's innovative approach to converting low-cost, underutilized natural gas directly into digital assets.
The company recorded this achievement during the controlled live-load commissioning phase at the site, which showcased the complete operational workflow established in Martin County, West Texas. The integrated infrastructure generated electricity from WAHA pipeline natural gas, powered 420 ASIC mining servers, and successfully mined verified Bitcoin.
The current setup includes two Caterpillar generators providing approximately 1.6 MW of net power to the ASIC servers, targeting a computing capacity of roughly 193,500 terahashes per second. Sterling Digital holds a five-year Gas Purchase Agreement securing up to 6,500 MMBtu per day from the WAHA pipeline.
The company has deposited the mined Bitcoin into its institutional-grade custody account with Coinbase, aligning with its Bitcoin treasury strategy. Investors will likely watch for future commissioning runs that may yield significantly larger deposits as validation progresses.
