Stock Market Rebounds Amid Oil Price Decline, Bitcoin Hits New High
The US stock market experienced a mixed day on Tuesday, with equities edging higher as chipmakers rebounded from Monday's rout. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 64 points to 53,481, while the S&P 500 rose 0.3% to 7,673.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices declined 3.4% and 3.7% for West Texas Intermediate and Brent crude respectively, breaking below the $82 and $90 thresholds. This led to a decrease in Treasury yields, with the 10-year yield easing to 4.65%, down from its 20-month high of 4.75%.
The tech sector also saw gains, with the Nasdaq 100 outperforming at 0.7%. Nvidia Corp. rose 1.5% ahead of its fiscal second-quarter report on Wednesday. Bitcoin briefly topped $80,000 and is now up 25% for the month.
