Stock Volatility Trumps Crypto in South Korea

South Korea's stock market has taken center stage in terms of volatility, eclipsing virtual assets and pulling investor attention away from crypto. The KOSPI index fell 32.6% on July 30 compared to July 1, while Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix dropped 34.2% and 48.4%, respectively.

The daily swings in the stock market were just as dramatic as the overall decline, with the KOSPI's average daily absolute change reaching 4.27%. In contrast, virtual assets saw a significant decline in trading volume, with cumulative trading volume on South Korea's five major won-based exchanges reaching $13.87 billion from July 1 to 30.

The shift in investor attention is attributed to the rapid price movements of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which have become more thrilling investment options than coins. Bitcoin has been trading sideways around $65,000, remaining relatively quiet and failing to highlight its investment appeal.
