Stocks and Bitcoin Soar Amid Bond Market Concerns
The US stock market saw significant gains on Friday, while Bitcoin held its ground above $77,000. The cryptocurrency's price rose from about $62,653 to a seven-day peak of $79,461 after a nearly 24% weekly increase.
US stocks, including the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500, also experienced significant gains, with the Nasdaq Composite climbing 104.12 points and the NYSE Composite gaining 194.68 points.
The Treasury bond market remained a concern, however, as long-term yields continued to rise due to inflation, government borrowing, and Middle East oil risks.
Financial stocks, including Coinbase, saw gains due to Bitcoin's price increase, while technology stocks were negatively affected by the rising bond yields.
Binance and CME held approximately $20.37 billion of Bitcoin futures open interest, amplifying market risk.
The upcoming Jackson Hole symposium, Treasury yields, and August 22 Bitcoin options expiry will be key tests for the market.
