Strategy Dumps 1638 Bitcoin Below Cost Basis Amid Shift in Accumulation Strategy
Strategy (MSTR), a company known for its large Bitcoin holdings, has sold 1,638 BTC for approximately $105 million. This sale marks six consecutive weeks without a single Bitcoin purchase and represents a shift away from the firm's historic accumulation strategy.
The sale is notable because Strategy has staked its business on accumulating, not selling, Bitcoin. The company's average purchase price of $75,419 per coin means it will realize losses relative to its cost basis on each coin sold at an average price of approximately $64,000.
Saylor, the CEO of Strategy, addressed the sale in a tweet, stating that he has never sold any personal Bitcoin and that his 'Never sell' mantra referred to individual savings, not corporate stacks.
