Strategy Earnings Miss Sends MSTR Shares Plummeting
Shares of Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) plummeted by 4.5% in afternoon trading following its dismal second-quarter 2026 earnings report, where it posted a staggering GAAP loss of $24.45 per share.
This massive shortfall was primarily driven by the company's significant exposure to cryptocurrency holdings, which recorded an unrealized loss of $8.32 billion due to new fair-value accounting rules.
The core software business, however, met analyst expectations with revenue growing 6.9% year-over-year to $122.4 million.
The company's aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy has sparked concerns that it may struggle to raise further capital, particularly in light of the recent crypto pullback and subsequent 2% drop in Bitcoin prices.
