Strategy Extends Bitcoin Pause to Five Weeks, Focuses on Reserve Building
Strategy, a Bitcoin treasury company, has extended its pause on purchasing BTC to five weeks. The company's last buy was 520 BTC on June 22, and since then it has focused on share sales and building up its USD reserve.
The company holds a total of 843,775 BTC, worth around $54 billion, bought at an average price of $75,476 per bitcoin for a total cost of around $63.69 billion. This represents more than 4% of Bitcoin's 21 million supply cap, but carries billions of dollars in paper losses at current prices.
Strategy raised its USD reserve by $525 million, bringing the balance to $3.75 billion as of July 26, up from $3.225 billion on July 19. The company said this now covers about 2.1 years of dividend obligations.
