Strategy Extends Pause on New BTC Purchases, Still Holds Over $54 Billion
Michael Saylor's strategy for Strategy (MSTR), the Bitcoin treasury firm, has led to another week without buying any new BTC. This pause is now in its fifth week, following a two-week period where the company sold a total of 3,588 BTC for $216 million under its recently introduced BTC monetization program.
The goal of this program is to bolster the firm's cash reserve and support dividend payments. The sales were made in addition to repurchasing 288,930 shares of STRC, Strategy's perpetual preferred stock that pays 12.00% annual dividends, for $25 million at an average price of $86.52 per share.
Strategy still holds a significant amount of BTC worth $54.75 billion and has increased its US dollar reserves by $525 million over the past week. This pause on new BTC purchases is notable, especially given Strategy's position as the world's largest corporate holder of BTC by a wide margin.
