Strategy Halted Bitcoin Purchases Amid Cash Pressure
Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, has not made any new purchases in the past four weeks. This is the longest period without a purchase since almost two years ago.
The company's executive chairman, Michael Saylor, recently posted on X that 'we're gonna need another color,' sparking speculation about another possible Bitcoin purchase. However, no such purchase was made.
Strategy currently holds 843,775 BTC, which were purchased at an average cost of $75,476 per Bitcoin and a total investment amounting to $63.69 billion. The current market value of these Bitcoins is around $55.1 billion, placing the investment $8.6 billion short of its total purchase.
Instead of buying more Bitcoin, Strategy has chosen to improve its cash balance by disposing of over 2.73 million MSTR shares and fetching about $263.5 million in net proceeds. The company's cash balance is now boosted to around $3.225 billion.
