Strategy Inc. Ditches Bitcoin Accumulation for Liquidity-Focused Capital Management
Strategy Inc., an entity known for its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy, has made a significant shift in its capital management approach. The company's latest SEC filing reveals it is prioritizing liquidity over accumulating more Bitcoin.
The change of heart began on June 29, 2026, when Strategy introduced the 'Digital Credit Capital Framework,' marking a formal departure from solely holding Bitcoin to active capital management. This new framework has led to several key changes, including the creation of a massive U.S. dollar reserve and the authorization of selling up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin.
During the week ending August 2, 2026, Strategy sold 1,638 BTC for an aggregate price of $104.73 million. The average sale price was $63,957, substantially lower than its aggregate average purchase price of $75,419. This sale was functional and aimed at funding dividends on preferred stock and repurchasing shares.
Strategy generated $290.6 million in net proceeds from its ATM equity offerings, which it used to build a safety net rather than converting it into crypto. The company injected $250.0 million directly into the USD Reserve, with another $28.9 million used for further repurchases of STRC stock and $11.7 million added to the general cash balance.
