Strategy Inc. Reports $8.33B Q2 Loss Due to Sharp Decline in Bitcoin Prices
Strategy Inc., the largest institutional holder of Bitcoin, reported significant losses in Q2 due to a sharp decline in Bitcoin prices. The company's operating loss was $8.33 billion and net loss was $8.22 billion. However, despite these losses, Strategy expanded its Bitcoin holdings by approximately 846,000 coins, raised over $9.69 billion through at-the-market offerings, and reduced its outstanding convertible notes.
Strategy emphasized its BTC monetization strategy, reporting a year-to-date increase in Bitcoin holdings of 25% to 843,775 coins as of July 26, 2026. The company also generated a significant gain from Bitcoin sales, with $218.4 million of sales producing a $1.95 billion dollar gain based on late-July prices.
The company's push to develop 'Digital Credit' as a new asset class and stabilize STRC trading near par has been underscored by the expansion of its USD reserve to over $3.75 billion, which covers more than two years of preferred dividends and interest.
