Strategy Inc.'s Month-Long Bitcoin Hiatus Sparks Speculation
Strategy Inc., owner of MSTR shares, has been on a month-long hiatus from acquiring Bitcoin. This marks its longest buying drought in two years, with no new transactions confirmed since June 22. Michael Saylor's cryptic message 'We're gonna need another color' accompanied the company's latest chart post on Sunday, July 26. This marked his fifth teaser post since the last confirmed acquisition.
The MSTR shares closed at $91.67 on Friday, down from the previous week's close of $94.85. Strategy's Bitcoin treasury consists of 843,775 BTC purchased at an average price of $75,476, creating an unrealized loss of approximately $8.6-$9.3 billion with Bitcoin trading near $64,600-$65,000.
Strategy's enterprise mNAV dropped below 1 on June 27, and its preferred stock dividend obligations have increased significantly over the past six months to $1.2 billion. The company has been selling shares to raise capital but allocating funds to reserves rather than Bitcoin purchases.
