Strategy Inc. Sells $105m in Bitcoin Amid Market Volatility
Bitcoin's price held steady at $63,500 over the past 24 hours as the global crypto market remained flat. According to exchange trading data, the total cryptocurrency market capitalization remained unchanged at $2.26 trillion.
Ethereum declined by 1.1% to $1,870 during this period. Bitcoin's price also fell by 1% for the week, trading near $63,600.
The current bearish sentiment in the market is attributed to several factors, including a security shock caused by the Coldcard hardware wallet exploit, which drained 1,367 BTC.
Additionally, the spot BTC ETF outflows and MicroStrategy's sale of 1,637 BTC for $105 million are also contributing to the bearish sentiment. Strategy Inc.'s decision to sell its Bitcoin holdings is seen as a necessary adjustment to maintain liquidity and service debt obligations in a challenging macro environment.
While this move may seem bearish, analysts argue that it's not a lack of conviction in Bitcoin but rather a strategic pivot from pure accumulation to active capital management. The company still holds roughly 4% of the total Bitcoin supply.
