Strategy Inc's Shares Rise 5% Amid Share Buyback Dismissal
Strategy Inc (MSTR) shares rose by 5% after Executive Chairman Michael Saylor dismissed share buyback plans, citing that they are not a priority. However, he did acknowledge exceptions could apply if MSTR is trading at a significant discount to net asset value.
The company generated $333.7 million from selling MSTR shares between August 10 and August 16 without adding to its Bitcoin position. Strategy's Bitcoin treasury remains static at 840,447 BTC, with an average acquisition cost of $75,385 per coin.
Saylor emphasized that the company will prioritize maintaining substantial cash positions, preserving optionality for future investments or debt reduction. He also revealed a framework where Strategy may maintain elevated cash levels when Bitcoin prices trade substantially above the 200-week moving average.
