Strategy Pauses Bitcoin Buys, Doubles STRC Buyback Plan to $2 Billion
Strategy's latest SEC filing shows that the company has paused its Bitcoin purchases for one week, choosing to direct $176 million toward buying back shares of STRC (Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock) instead.
The preferred security carries a $100 stated amount and pays a variable cash dividend. Strategy's objective is to keep STRC trading close to its stated value by buying shares below $100, reducing the number of outstanding preferred shares while paying less than their stated value.
Strategy repurchased 1,810,885 STRC shares between August 31 and September 7 at an average price of approximately $97.36 per share. The company has doubled its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program to $2 billion, with $1.19 billion remaining in available capacity under the expanded authorization.
Strategy's Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged at 845,050 BTC, acquired for a total of $63.73 billion including fees and expenses, at an average cost of approximately $75,412 per coin. The company's treasury remains sensitive to Bitcoin trading around this level.
