Strategy Pockets $2 Billion, Holds Off on New Bitcoin Buys
Strategy, the company behind the MSTR index, has amassed over $2 billion in fresh capital after selling 18.26 million shares of Class A common stock last week.
The funds were used to repurchase 1.43 million STRC preferred shares and add $300 million to its USD Reserve, with the remainder allocated to a new component called 'USD Cash.'
Despite the influx of capital, Strategy made no purchases or sales of Bitcoin during the week, instead focusing on bolstering its dollar liquidity.
The move comes as Strategy faces growing scrutiny over its business model and index eligibility, with MSCI proposing to exclude it from its Global Investable Market Indexes under a new framework targeting non-operating companies.
