Strategy Posts $8.2 Billion Net Loss Due to Bitcoin Price Drop

Strategy's net loss in the second quarter of 2026 reached $8.2 billion, largely due to the revaluation of its Bitcoin holdings.

The company, which is the largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin, increased its BTC position by 11% in Q2, bringing it to a record 846,000 BTC. However, as the price of Bitcoin plummeted by over 40% compared to Q2 2025, Strategy's balance sheet took a hit.

The company began selling part of its Bitcoin position and used the proceeds to finance dividends on preferred shares. This highlights the significant risk associated with investing in cryptocurrencies, particularly for companies like Strategy that have a substantial portion of their assets tied up in BTC.
