Strategy Posts Record $8.2B Loss as Bitcoin Slump Takes Toll
Strategy's second-quarter earnings report revealed an $8.22 billion net loss, primarily driven by an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on its Bitcoin holdings.
The company held 843,775 BTC as of July 26, a 25% increase since the beginning of the year, despite selling approximately $218.4 million worth of Bitcoin under its BTC monetization program.
The proceeds from this sale were used to help fund a portion of Strategy's preferred stock dividend obligations.
Strategy also reported building a $3.75 billion US dollar reserve, enough to cover more than two years of preferred dividend payments and interest obligations.
