Strategy Prefers Preferred Stock Over Bitcoin in Latest Buyback Move
Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, has continued its preference for buying back its own preferred stock over acquiring more Bitcoin. In a recent filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the company disclosed that it repurchased $139.3 million worth of STRC (Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock) shares between September 8 and 13.
This marks the second consecutive week in which Strategy has left its Bitcoin position unchanged. The company's latest purchase brings the total amount spent on preferred stock buybacks to approximately $139.3 million, with a remaining aggregate purchase price of $1.05 billion available under the digital credit securities repurchase program and $1.0 billion under its MSTR (Class A common stock) stock repurchase program.
Strategy's Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged at around 845,050 coins acquired for an aggregate $63.73 billion at an average price of about $75,412 per coin. The company has shifted its capital priorities towards preferred-stock buybacks rather than fresh Bitcoin accumulation, a move it formalized in early September when it doubled its preferred-stock buyback program to $2 billion.
