Strategy Raises $2B from MSTR Sales, Holds Back on New Bitcoin Purchases
Strategy, an investment firm known for its significant Bitcoin holdings, has raised approximately $2 billion through MSTR share sales last week. Despite generating a substantial amount of cash, Strategy chose not to buy any additional Bitcoins during this period.
The company's decision to hold back on further Bitcoin purchases is interesting, given that it still owns 840,447 BTC acquired at an average price of $75,385 per coin. This position represents about 4% of the total Bitcoin supply cap.
According to Bernstein analysts, Strategy may resume its Bitcoin buying activities once STRC recovers towards its nominal value of $100. The company has also established a new USD Cash account with $1.59 billion in liquidity, which can support various treasury purposes such as Bitcoin purchases, dividends, and debt payments.
Strategy's CEO, Matt Cole, expressed confidence that the Bitcoin bear market has ended, citing the cryptocurrency's strength against both the dollar and gold. This sentiment is echoed by analysts who believe that Bitcoin historically reacts positively to liquidity expansion.
