Strategy Raises Dollar Reserve to $4B After Third 2026 Bitcoin Sale
Strategy, a company known for its large Bitcoin holdings, has continued to adapt its treasury strategy. On August 3rd, it disclosed that it had sold 1,638 BTC, raising its US dollar reserve to $4 billion. The sale was part of the company's effort to balance its financial obligations and preserve its liquidity.
The proceeds from the sale were split almost evenly between funding preferred dividends and repurchasing STRC shares. Despite the sale, Strategy's total Bitcoin position remains at 842,138 BTC, acquired at an aggregate purchase price of $63.5 billion and an average cost of $75,419 per coin.
The company has been cautious about its crypto holdings, previously cautioning that Bitcoin could be sold periodically to fund preferred dividends, with the expectation of repurchasing more coins over time. The latest sale was part of this strategy, aimed at preserving liquidity and meeting fixed obligations.
