Strategy Reloads on Bitcoin with $513M Buy Spree
Strategy, a publicly traded company and major Bitcoin holder, has resumed its purchases of BTC after a two-month break. In an 8-K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), it was revealed that Strategy bought 4,603 Bitcoin for $370 million at an average price of $80,318.
This purchase takes their total holdings to 845,050 BTC, acquired at a total cost of $63.3 billion and an average price of $75,413 per coin. The funds used for this acquisition came from the net proceeds of MSTR common stock sales, which totaled $602 million, as well as $30 million added to cash reserves and $151.8 million used to repurchase STRC preferred shares.
Strive, another major corporate Bitcoin holder, also increased its stash by acquiring 1,800 BTC worth around $143 million at an average price of $79,431 per coin between August 24th and 28th. This acquisition brings Strive's total holdings to 23,156 BTC, solidifying its position among the world's top five corporate Bitcoin holders.
However, Metaplanet, the fourth-largest corporate holder, has sparked speculation with a large transfer of 4,800 BTC (approximately $377 million) to Coinbase this week. This move is part of over 10,270 BTC shifted by Metaplanet this week alone, including earlier transfers.
