Strategy Reports $8.22B Net Loss Due to Bitcoin Price Decline
Michael Saylor's Strategy has reported an $8.22 billion net loss for the second quarter due to Bitcoin's (BTC) price decline. The loss is mainly attributed to an $8.32 billion unrealized hit on its Bitcoin trove as the flagship cryptocurrency fell during the period.
The company expanded its holdings to 843,775 BTC by late July with an average purchase price near $75,476 per Bitcoin. Strategy also sold roughly $218.4 million worth of the cryptocurrency under a new monetization plan to help fund preferred stock dividends.
Despite the market challenges, Strategy's revenue climbed 6.9% year over year to $122.4 million, and the firm posted gross profit of $81.6 million for the second quarter of 2026, marking a 66.6% gross margin.
In an effort to return STRC to health, Michael Saylor stated that they will continue to evolve their business model and establish Digital Credit as a new asset class.
