Strategy Reports Wider-Than-Expected Q2 Loss Due to Bitcoin Volatility
Strategy Inc., the Nasdaq-listed company, reported a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss due to significant unrealized losses on its Bitcoin holdings. The company's net loss of $8.22 billion translates to $24.45 per diluted share for the three months ended June 30.
This is in contrast to the year-ago period when Strategy recorded a net income of $10.02 billion, or $32.60 per share. Revenue for the quarter came in at $122.4 million, up 6.9% from the same period last year but slightly below Wall Street expectations.
The company's operating loss of $8.33 billion reflects an $8.32 billion unrealized loss on digital assets following a decline in Bitcoin prices during the quarter. Despite this quarterly loss, Strategy highlighted growth in its Bitcoin holdings and capital markets activities.
As of July 26, the company held 843,775 Bitcoin, representing a 25% increase year to date. Strategy also reported a 4.5% Bitcoin yield for 2026 so far.
