Strategy Resumes Bitcoin Buying After Ten-Week Pause
Strategy, a company led by Michael Saylor, has resumed its bitcoin buying spree after a ten-week pause. The company purchased 4,603 BTC between August 24 and August 30, paying around $369.7 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin.
This latest purchase pushed Strategy's total holdings to 845,050 BTC, acquired for about $63.73 billion at an average price of $75,412, including fees and expenses. The company funded this purchase by selling 4,531,421 shares of Class A common stock through its at-the-market program, raising around $602.8 million in net proceeds.
The sale of common stock was used to buy bitcoin, retire preferred shares below face value, and add dollar liquidity around the edges. Strategy's total position carries an average cost of $75,412 per bitcoin, with this latest purchase coming in at $80,318.
Saylor posted a two-word message on X, 'We're ₿ack', beside the company's bitcoin purchase chart, which may have been more effective than a formal announcement. The timing of this purchase is notable, as Saylor bought while bitcoin was still below $80,000 and while the treasury-stock model was under open pressure.
