Strategy Resumes Bitcoin Purchases After Two-Month Hiatus
Strategy, the world's largest Bitcoin (BTC) and DAT company, has resumed its purchase of Bitcoin after a two-and-a-half-month hiatus. The company announced that it bought 4,603 Bitcoins for $369.7 million in the week from August 24 to 30, with an average purchase price of $8,318. This purchase increased Strategy's cumulative Bitcoin holdings to 845,050 and brought its total purchase amount to $63.73 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,413.
The company also repurchased 1,557,177 shares of STRC preferred stock for $151.8 million during the same period and has left $364.8 million to repurchase preferred shares and $1 billion to repurchase common shares, respectively. Strategy's USD reserve increased to $5.1 billion as of August 30, and its separately established USD Cash increased to $1.61 billion, bringing the combined USD liquidity of the two reserves to $6.71 billion.
Strategy emphasized that it succeeded in lowering its net leverage ratio to 0% based on solid liquidity. Net leverage is an indicator of debt minus dollar assets divided by the value of Bitcoin holdings, and Strategy's debt is about $6.75 billion. The USD reserve of $5.1 billion is designated as a buffer resource that can cover the dividend of preferred stocks worth about $1.7 billion per year for about four years.
