Strategy Reveals Plan to Sell Up to $5 Billion in Bitcoin Holdings
Strategy, a company known for its large Bitcoin holdings, has outlined a framework that could allow it to monetize up to $5 billion in BTC. The funds generated from this potential sale would support USD reserves, preferred dividends, interest payments, and stock buybacks.
The company held 843,775 BTC as of July 26, with an average cost basis of $75,476 per coin. Bitcoin's price has fallen to around $62,500 since the sales framework update, placing Strategy's holdings below their average purchase price.
The strategy divides potential BTC monetization into three areas: up to $1.25 billion toward USD reserves, around $1.76 billion toward preferred dividends and interest obligations, and up to $2 billion toward share repurchases.
